The brand is supported by the capable minds of Tommaso Aquilano and Roberto Raimondi reminiscent of the divas of jazz and the atmosphere languid and luxurious of rooms where they performed. The goal of the designer duo is to find elegance austere and sophisticated, made of colors and rigorous development sophisticated. After all, the brand named beloved architect of fashion could not speak of development linear and at the same time elegant and flowing.
for Gianfranco Ferre next summer there will be no bright colors or fluorescent colors, there will be pink, lemon yellow, the orange vibrant that we have seen on many catwalks during the delirious Milan fashion week, if not with some cameo as a trench pink or some minidress sequined, for his collection Spring – we accept all – or quasi- two-tone, white and black, used alone or combined with in engaging games of contrasts.

Farah Angsanah Collections available at Al Aouj

Fashion was a part of Farah since she was a young girl flipping through magazines and stopping on pages that featured the timelessly glamorous work of designers. She began designing her mother’s and sister’s wardrobes before she even had the basic skills of sketching or draping. She would bring her vision to the local dressmaker and, through detailed descriptions, guide her to make a sketch and select the fabrics. How the dress looked, how it felt, how it draped on a woman’s body, how it moved when she walked…these were the things she was already considering as she ushered her creations through stages of approval that were clear indicators of a future in haute couture.

Farah took up the formal study of the elements of fashion design and haute couture technique at the Central School of Fashion in London, from which she graduated in 1992. There, while studying draping techniques she learned about the luminaries’ work of couture, like Madame Grès, who dressed royalty and Hollywood’s most glamorous stars and whose obsession with elegance once led her to use over 100 meters of cloth in a single dress! Farah was also able to learn more about the techniques used by her hero Valentino and his mentor, the famed Jean Desses

Andrew GN Spring 2011

Andrew Gn’s Spring 2011 collection was inspired by the late 60s and early 70s after a trip to London’s Portobello Road.

The soft elegant feminine collection had an eyelet theme in cotton, silk georgette and silk crepe in a variety of colours.

This theme was presented in blouses, dresses and tiered maxi skirts.

We also saw many pieces with ivy-leaf cut-out details which appeared on sleeves, dresses.

Linen blouses with puff sleeves, linen pants, jackets with guipure pockets, trench coats, floral dresses are available as well.

2011 - Year of the Rabbit

A placid year, very much welcomed and needed after the ferocious year of the Tiger. We should go off to some quiet spot to lick our wounds and get some rest after all the battles of the previous year.

Good taste and refinement will shine on everything and people will acknowledge that persuasion is better than force. A congenial time in which diplomacy, international relations and politics will be given a front seat again. We will act with discretion and make reasonable concessions without too much difficulty.

A time to watch out that we do not become too indulgent. The influence of the Rabbit tends to spoil those who like too much comfort and thus impair their effectiveness and sense of duty.

Law and order will be lax; rules and regulations will not be rigidly enforced. No one seems very inclined to bother with these unpleasant realities. They are busy enjoying themselves, entertaining others or simply taking it easy. The scene is quiet and calm, even deteriorating to the point of somnolence. We will all have a tendency to put off disagreeable tasks as long as possible

Money can be made without too much labor. Our life style will be languid and leisurely as we allow ourselves the luxuries we have always craved for. A temperate year with unhurried pace. For once, it may seem possible for us to be carefree and happy without too many annoyances.


THE RABBIT CHILD

A child born in the Rabbit's year will have a sweet disposition. Even-tempered and obedient, he will be sensitive to the moods of his parents and act accordingly. He may or may not be talkative, but he won't be rowdy or offensive. He can sit quietly and concentrate on one toy or game at a time.

Instead of directly resisting rules, the subtle Rabbit will carefully devise ways around them. In short, this polite little angel is going to bargain for a better deal every time.

He can take reproach with a defiant or philosophical sort of indifference. Shrugging off his setbacks, the Rabbit will patiently start again from square one. Helpful at home, conforming in school and well-tuned to his environment, this child will know his way around people and problems. Rest assured he will be well-liked and accepted in all circles.
